It's good that the Bay is now clearly describing this item as down down. There was some ambiguity in how this was previously marketed.

The first thing that one notices is the smell. There's a very chemical smell as soon as the duvet is removed from the packaging. Since we purchased it for my two children aged 3 and 2, we aired it out for three days before letting them use it.

The second thing one immediately notices are the feathers which fly or fluff out of the packaging when it's removed. It's not a huge amount, but it was a bit worrisome to consider whether the quality and construction of the duvet was good enough.

The other observation was that it wasn't as "fluffy" as some of the other down duvets I've slept under in hotels and growing up.

That said, it does warm us up sufficiently at night.

As one of the other reviewers commented, not bad at a deep discount but certainly cannot compare to other duvet manufacturers at the regular price point.

really, it has to be dry cleaned? Most down can be washed.

Comments about GLUCKSTEINHOME European Down Duvet:

The baffling does not keep the down from moving from one section to another. After a few months of use, I have no down in the middle of my duvet and all at the sides. I wondered why I was cold at night until I looked at it with light behind it and saw no down.

Comments about GLUCKSTEINHOME European Down Duvet:

Purchased it during Boxing Week for a fraction of price (60% off). Pleasantly surprised by this duvet warmth. Very nice looking as well.

The only drawback is that sometimes it's just too warm for my heated apartment, but I can manage it.

Not sure if I'd purchase it for a full price ($400 queen size), but for $160 it's a steal.
